Construction Site Safety and Health Officer (SSHO)

 

Nisqually Construction Services is seeking a Construction Site Safety & Health Officer for federal construction projects in Western Washington (Pierce or Yakima County). The following individual will be responsible for managing, implementing, and enforcing the Safety and Health program in accordance with the accepted Accident Prevention plan. While conducting safety and health inspections, a written log will be required to cumulate and send over to each company. Conducting mishap investigations, completing required reports, and maintaining applicable safety reference material on each job site is essential for this position.

 

Duties and Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):

  • Direct all job site activities to maintain a safe and productive work environment within contract specifications, client requirements, and local/state/federal safety codes.
  • Control hazardous working conditions and unsafe activities through safety management and
  • Supervise and administer safety/first aid activities: work assignments, personnel administration, staffing, and training.
  • Conduct work area surveillance inspections, air sampling tests for confined space entry, property damage, and/or personal injury investigations.
  • Conduct onsite safety meetings, create and review jobsite Hazard Analysis reports, and monitor employees and sub-contractors safety plans.
  • Document all accidents, safety violations, and any unsafe conditions. Completed reports will be submitted as required.

 

Position Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 30 hours OSHA construction safety class or equivalent within the last 5 years.
  • EM 385-1-1, USACE, and First Aid/CPR certifications (current).
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior experience in construction safety supervision on Federal Government, State, and/or Private Projects.
  • Ability to work well and communicate efficiently with clients, subcontractors, and other team members.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • OSHA 500 Trainer (preferred).
  • Familiarity with EM 385 (preferred).
  • 40 Hour HAZWOPER Certificate (preferred).
