Job Description
We are seeking a Tax Manager I with a CPA license to join a collaborative leadership team in a remote role. This position offers the opportunity to work closely with clients, manage and mentor a talented team, and play a key role in shaping the direction of the firm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Take the lead in preparing and reviewing tax returns, managing client engagements from start to finish. This includes scheduling, staffing, and overseeing the technical aspects of each engagement.
- Supervise and mentor staff, offering guidance on professional development, tackling technical challenges, and maintaining a positive, team-oriented environment.
- Handle complex tax issues with creativity and a deep understanding of tax law, ensuring thorough research and application of relevant tax implications.
- Leverage various technologies to create, analyze, and present financial results to clients.
- Drive the completion of engagements, independently identifying and addressing potential challenges as they arise.
- Proactively engage with clients, offering valuable tax and business recommendations tailored to their needs.
- Educate clients on their financial positions and strategic plans, empowering them with knowledge for their success.
- Collaborate with team members to bring fresh ideas, solve complex issues, and drive improvements within the firm.
- Stay current with industry trends and help lead the firm toward its strategic vision.
- Work alongside leadership to enhance operational processes and contribute to the growth of the company.
Required Qualifications:
- Active CPA license.
- 8-10 years of experience in a small to medium-sized CPA firm.
- Stable work history and a strong professional track record.
- Expertise in reviewing a wide range of tax returns and ensuring their accuracy.
- Experience preparing complex tax returns.
- Staff management and deadline management experience.
- Deep knowledge of tax laws and tax-related issues, with solid tax research, planning, and projection skills.
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
- Experience with advisory services is a plus.
- Ability to work in a modern, dynamic work environment.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to develop and champion your own ideas while constructively challenging others' ideas for the best outcomes.
- Ability and willingness to work closely with the leadership team to improve the firm's operations.
- Familiarity with Ultratax CS, Practice Management Software, Practice CS, GoFileRoom, or Practice Forward is preferred.
- Full dedication to the role with no outside clients or secondary jobs.
- Preference for candidates in the Eastern or Central Time Zone.
