The Department of Corrections is currently recruiting to fill a 0.75 FTE Nursing Specialist (Employee Health Nurse) position. This position can be headquartered at any of the locations below.

Position Summary

This position provides advanced professional and administrative nursing work in the administration of designated employee health services for employees within the DOC. This includes planning, development and implementation of the employee health program; establishment of program policies and procedures addressing correctional employee health; development and implementation of diagnostic and immunization programs; development of training and provision of education to employees on employee health issues; coordination, monitoring preparation and maintenance of employee health records and provision of on-site employee emergency health services.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 11-02 with pay starting from $72280 to $103209 .

Pay rates on appointment for current or former state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the Compensation Plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

A twelve-month probationary period is required.

Remote work is not an option for this position.

Travel is required.

Qualifications

Minimally qualified applicants will have experience:

  • Treating patients with communicable diseases according to evidence-based practice.
  • Providing education to patients and/or staff.
  • Working with health record management.

    SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
  • Must posses and maintain an active unrestricted license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of Wisconsin or another state participating in the Nurse Licensure Compact.
  • Must maintain certification in CPR by the American Heart Association and training in the use of the AED and have the ability to perform CPR and/or first aid to prevent loss of life and relieve suffering until appropriate care arrives.
