Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Food Safety Manager to implement, oversee, and continuously improve all aspects of food safety related to food packaging, within our operation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring that food safety standards are developed, maintained and implemented. This role is essential to ensure successful implementation of SQF standards while promoting a culture of quality and safety.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Oversee the development, implementation, review, and maintenance of the SQF System, including HACCP plans and prerequisite programs.
  • Provide expert guidance and direction to all departments on matters related to food safety.
  • Act as the plant liaison for inspections or audits related to food safety.
  • Ensure the integrity and effectiveness of the SQF System through food safety metrics, routine audits, and corrective actions.
  • Communicate SQF-related information to relevant personnel to ensure compliance and understanding.
  • Provide HACCP Training, Lead HACCP teams and provide necessary training to staff regarding food safety and quality control procedures.
  • Participate in crisis management teams and lead product trace and recall testing.
  • Ensure the proper documentation of all records, audits, and corrective actions.
  • Will be responsible for personnel activities, including hiring, termination, setting performance goals, and ensuring that all food safety personnel receive proper training to effectively perform their job functions.
  • Act as a site Safety Team Member.

Pay : Salary range $85,000-$95,000 - DOE

Schedule : Monday - Friday, 8am to 5pm.

Potential to earn bonuses monthly and quarterly

Requirements

  • Background/experience in implementing GFSI food safety processes is required
  • Knowledge of implementing SQF Guidelines and HACCP certified food packaging standards.
  • Experience with Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certification programs and GMP.
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or production environment, preferably in flexographic printing or plastics manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with ERP systems, particularly Infor is a plus.
  • Experience working directly with customers and suppliers.
  • Experience with Lean & 5S principles would be viewed favorably
