Job Description

Emmi Dessert USA is part of the listed Emmi Group, the largest dairy company in Switzerland with a strong presence in the US. In its four entities in New Jersey and New York, Emmi Dessert USA produces specialty desserts mainly for the US market. The company has been in business for over 30 years and was bought by Emmi Group in October 2020. Processes and systems are not standardized and harmonized yet.

The Head of Cost Accounting is responsible for leading the Cost Accounting Team and developing the Cost Accounting of Emmi Dessert USA. Further, the Head of Cost Accounting is setting up and maintaining standard costs, analytical reports, analysis of standard costs variances, etc. for the four Emmi Dessert USA locations (Kenilworth NJ, Newark NJ, Freeport NY and Wyandanch NY). In its duty the Head of Cost Accounting plays a key role in the ERP implementation project.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

- Co-ordinate the entity over-arching tasks within the Cost Accounting Team

- Establish a common database across the four companies to set up and maintain a proper cost accounting

- Conduct time-studies on the production floor to get / verify data

- Determine and maintain standard costs of manufactured goods

- Contribute actively to Supply Chain cost saving initiatives

- Establish and maintain standard reports (e.g. PPV, MSM Workbooks, overhead calculations, inventory reconciliation, etc.) to improve transparency on costs and profitability

- Advise the members of the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) based on the cost data collected

- Prepare the underlying data to support CAPEX requests submitted to the local ELT and to the group.

- Close collaboration with Procurement and Operations

- Contribute actively to the ERP Implementation Project in all Emmi Dessert USA companies

- Support R&D with costing information for newly developed products.

This position is required to commute between the our four entities on Long Island NY and New Jersey.

Supervisory Responsibilities

- Manage and support the two Senior Cost Accountants through coaching and a collaborative management style.

- Determines staffing needs bases on business needs. Establishes an ethical and collegial work environment, promoting a collaborative, accountable and inclusive team aligned with the company's values.

Qualifications / Minimum Requirements

The ideal candidate has the following skill set and/or experience

- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.

- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

- Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.

- Strong supervisory and leadership skills.

- Experience in leading teams, guiding and directing resources, planning, forecasting, scheduling, and facilitation.

- Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.

- Ability to communicate and work as a team player

- Ability to adapt to updated priorities

Education and Experience

- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting.

- At least three years of related experience required.

- Proficient with Microsoft Excel.

- Experience in working with an ERP system in a manufacturing environment.
