BHE GT&S JOB DESCRIPTION BHE GT&S has an exciting summer internship opportunity for a Petroleum Technology student within our gas control department located at our White Oaks General Office in Bridgeport, WV.
RESPONSIBILITIES - Learn Zones and gas flow direction throughout the system
- Emphasis on regular day to day communications with the field and customers
- Learn to utilize phonetic alphabet to identify assets, communicate and verify commands
- What nominations are and how intraday changes can affect the system
- Learn to trend data to diagnose issues and identify key pressures
- Paperwork, storage tracking, recordkeeping of incoming call and task being completed
- Learn to navigate SCADA system
- Under the immediate guidance experienced controllers, manipulate system as needed to achieve desired results, view and manage alarms, record times and gates tags for outages.
- Develop an understanding of moving gas through a system with multiple supplies and deliveries.
- Learn high level system operations including items such as reading diagrams, learning gas flow, controlling regulations, etc.
- The intern would allow our newer controller to be able to share their knowledge and by doing so increase their understanding and confidence in the system.
Individuals must have a desire to learn and produce as part of a safety conscious workplace. An independent source of transportation for this summer 2024 internship is needed as there is limited public transportation options in the area.
*Your summer internship will be a minimum of 8 weeks on site (June 2 - July 25). Please note: the internship could be extended for up to 11 weeks considering your summer schedule and the needs of the business, so a start date prior to June 2 and/or end date past July 25 could be a possibility .
*Successful candidates who are 50 miles or more from the assigned work location may be eligible for a one-time housing stipend. QUALIFICATIONS - Qualified candidates should have high attention to details.
- Candidates should be self-directed.
- Candidates should be skillful in taking initiative, customer services, judgement, and innovation.
- Ability to speak persuasively and develop rapport.
- Ability to write and develop presentations.
- Proficient in computer skills.
- Ability to plan and organize work.
Education Must be a full-time student enrolled in a 2-year Community & Technical Program majoring in Petroleum Technology.
Student must have a GPA of 2.5 (3.0 preferred).
