Our company is seeking a Mechanical Design Technician to work within our machinery automation division. The ideal candidate will have an understanding of mechanical engineering principles, excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with team members in a fast-paced environment.

What you will do:

• Collaborate with engineers to develop detailed technical drawings and schematics using CAD software.
• Modify existing designs to meet project specifications or improve performance.
• Create models and assemblies of assigned machines from library drawings, alternate sources, or a clean sheet.
• Prepare detail drawings for accurate fabrication and assembly of the machine.
• Develop accurate and complete Bills of Materials.
• Support internal and external resources to ensure timely delivery of projects, expected quality, and within allotted budget.
• Participate in design/product reviews and work with Project Engineering & Product Engineering to ensure proper implementation of features.
• Participate in the machine inspection and run off process.
• Conduct internal equipment testing and verification.
• Responsible for 2nd and 3rd tier technical support of legacy, current, and future products.
• Create customer documentation such as user manuals, spare parts lists, maintenance manuals and drawings. Drawings include Mechanical assemblies, pneumatic diagrams, and hydraulic diagrams.

What you need to be successful:

• Associates degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology/Industrial automation or equivalent. Related job experience to be considered with five (5) or more years relevant experience.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience with industrial automation machinery design.
• Proficient in Design/Drafting tools for creation and maintenance of mechanical designs and drawings using Solidworks.
• Must be detail oriented, able to handle several projects at once with a high sense of urgency, and tenacious enough to get the job done accurately and timely every time.
• Must be a creative problem solver that is results oriented, focused and attentive with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy.
• Proactive, resourceful and willing to participate in a team-oriented environment.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and be able to travel domestically by air or car on a regular basis with the ability to obtain a valid passport for occasional international travel.
• Background, MVR and pre-employment drug screen required.

Other things that might make you stand out:

• Design knowledge with automated machinery using practical applications in manufacturing and/or the wood working machinery industry.
