Position Summary
The
Department ofPsychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at the University of New Mexico HealthSciences is accepting applications for an academic faculty forensicpsychologist, suitable for appointment at the senior rank of AssociateProfessor or Professor, to serve as
Chief of the Forensic Behavioral SciencesDivision . This position will report directly to the Chair of the Department andbe part of the department's Leadership Team.Broad based forensic skillsto include knowledge of the law in relation to clinical practice are central tothis position. The position will work extensively with criminal justiceagencies and the New Mexico Human Services Division, leading the delivery offorensic behavioral health assessments, and be responsible for a range ofduties related to legal proceedings, including analysis of legal issues and howthey stand within the legal jurisdiction in question, and using aresearch-based approach to answer legal questions or problems. This positionwill include a combination of administrative, research/scholarly activities,educational activities and the ability to participate in direct forensicservices in the community.
More specifically,roles and responsibilities of this position will be as follows:
- Work closely withdepartment leadership to develop plans for expansion of the division includingfinancial stability.
- Clinical andadministrative supervision of the forensic clinical team.
- Provide clinicalconsultation and subject matter expertise to community partners regarding bestpractices in forensic behavioral science.
- Address the stateworkforce through recruitment of psychologists and other mental healthprofessionals to provide services in forensic and correctional settings in NewMexico.
- Provide policyanalysis on initiatives related to the intersection of the justice andbehavioral health systems.
- Collaborate onresearch examining clinical service delivery in forensic and clinical settings.
- Conduct forensicevaluations.
- Maintain an activeresearch and publication agenda in the field of Forensic Psychology and havethe potential to obtain external funding and contracts.

Qualifications
MinimumRequirements: - Doctoratedegree-PhD, PsyD or JD/PhD or equivalent from an APA approved program;
- Eligible forappointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Professor;
- Forensic experience- minimum 5 years;
- Experienceconducting forensic psychological evaluations;
- Licensable in NewMexico;
- Must be eligible towork in the United States.
PreferredQualifications: - Evidence of academicleadership experience;
- Evidence of anactive program of research and scholarly activity in the field of ForensicPsychology;
- Experience workingwith difficult and complex cases, to include work with major mental illnessesthat are often complicated by histories of substance abuse and/or a history oftrauma;
- Experience with orcommitment to working with marginalized populations;
- Educational,teaching and supervision experience with trainees in multiple disciplines.
- A demonstratedcommitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success, as well asworking with broadly diverse communities.
