Job Description

The Grand Harbor is ideally situated in the Port of Dubuque, Iowa and featuring a winning combination of service, amenities and entertainment, the Grand Harbor Resort and Waterpark is the Midwest’s premier destination for meetings, group events, family vacations and your next employment opportunity! We are currently accepting applications for a regular part-time Overnight Hotel Security Person that can regularly work between the hours of 10pm and 7am. Idea candidates must be able to work independently, are self motivated, can maintain a calm and professional demeanor, handle stressful situation and have exceptional problem solving skills, as well as the availability to work overnight including weekends and holidays as needed. This is position does require frequent walking, standing, sitting and stair climbing. Job Summary: The Overnight Hotel Security is responsible for ensuring the overall safety and security of the hotel and its guests. They act as a Guest Service Attendant and are available to assist with guests, maintenance, and general cleaning throughout the night. Some responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure the safety and security of hotel guests.
  • Maintain hotel safety by securing public entrances, Waterpark areas and guest floors.
  • Enforce hotel policies and procedures as they relate to noise control and fire alarms.
  • Respond to guest requests as needed, including: delivering blankets, towels, bedding, etc.
  • Perform general cleaning duties of public areas, including restrooms.
  • Assist with light maintenance projects as assigned including tidying, organizing, painting, monitor the boiler gages.
  • Promote and practice safety standards at all times.
  • Assist front desk as needed, including answering phones.
  • Assist housekeeping and laundry as needed.
  • Change security camera tapes, as needed.
  • Assist with snow removal to ensure property is cleared and safe for our guests.
  • Maintain a clean and well groomed appearance at all times in accordance with departmental standards, wearing a uniform including a nametag is mandatory.
  • All other duties as assigned by supervisor or manager.
  • This position is subject to a background check relating to the responsibilities of the role.
Physical Requirements and Qualifications may include but are not limited to:
  • Pushing/Pulling 40 lbs.
  • Requires use of proper body mechanics with pushing, pulling, reaching, lifting, squatting, kneeling and bending.
  • Requires fine motor hand and arm movement, manual dexterity, and coordination
  • Requires working around and operating departmental equipment.
  • Requires the ability to function in a professional manner under stressful circumstances.
  • Hours may vary depending on departmental staffing needs.
  • Exposure to a variety of temperatures both indoor and outdoor, dust, heat, noise, chemcials
  • High School Diploma/GED
  • Must be at least 18 years of age
  • Must be able to read and speak English.
