Growing together. The 2025 summer internship program is a full-time commitment for 10 weeks, running from June 3rd to August 8th. Housing is available for qualified candidates not local to the market. As a Pharmacist Intern with Genoa Healthcare , part of Optum and UnitedHealth Group, you will contribute to vital services for behavioral health and addiction communities. Collaborating with community providers, we ensure patients with complex health needs receive the correct medications and can adhere to their treatment plans. Primary Responsibilities: Dispense medications as prescribed by healthcare providers. Educate patients about their medications and appropriate usage. Handle administrative tasks, including patient record filing and insurance processing. Maintain compliance with relevant state pharmacy regulations. Administer immunizations where permitted by the state board of pharmacy. Perform additional pharmacy-related duties as required. Exhibit exceptional communication and customer service skills, focusing on the needs of both internal and external customers. Ensure a safe workspace and report any safety concerns to leadership. Adhere to all policies set by the Board of Pharmacy and other regulatory bodies. Handle patient health information in accordance with HIPAA standards. Required Qualifications: Currently enrolled in a Doctor of Pharmacy program, with the first professional year (P1) completed prior to the internship start date. Active licensure as a pharmacist intern in Louisiana. Authorized to work in the U.S. without company sponsorship, now or in the future. Preferred Qualifications: Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. Completion of at least one Therapeutics Course. Familiarity with medical and pharmaceutical terminology. Demonstrated mathematical, analytical, and critical thinking skills.
