Community Canvassers and Team Leaders -  Get Out the Vote!

Hiring Immediately - $24-26/hr + bonuses

Full-time & Part-time

Help us get out the vote! In November, we must work together to make sure we elect champions who will stand up for reproductive freedom for all Michiganders - both in Washington and right here at home. That’s why The Outreach Team is partnering with Planned Parenthood Michigan Votes to protect our rights and educate the community on the fast-approaching election. When people can make decisions about their own reproductive health care, they have more control over their economic security, their health, and well-being, and can build the future they see for themselves. Politicians have no business interfering with private healthcare decisions. Join us as we work to educate voters in Michigan to make sure their voices are heard at the ballot box this fall.

This role is a great opportunity to gain experience in the following areas: Leadership, Communication & Advocacy, Community Outreach & Engagement, Political Organizing, Campaign Work, and Public Policy.

Get paid well! Canvass positions start at $24/hour. Leadership positions start at $26/hour. We offer paid training and bonuses for friend referrals (and more). All team members have the opportunity to earn an extra $3-$4 per hour by maintaining a full-time schedule and working weekends through our bonuses.

Location: Oakland, Macomb, and Northern Detroit Metro, MI

 

We are hiring immediately, all positions run through November 5 with possibilities for advancement afterwards. Shifts run from 12:30pm - 7:45pm Monday through Sunday. There is a possibility to work part-time or full-time.

 

Canvasser Responsibilities ($24/hr):

• Engage with the public in a friendly and respectful manner
• Deliver a compelling campaign message
• Participate in staff training to improve outreach skills
• Strictly follow the campaign's safety protocols, including the use of PPE and compliance with daily health and safety guidelines

Team Leader Responsibilities ($26/hr):

• The Canvasser Responsibilities plus:
• Manage a small group of canvassers out in the field by checking in with them periodically throughout the day and debriefing with them at the end of the day
• Ensure each canvasser has all of the materials they need to be safe and successful
• Assist directors with canvasser training and administrative work

The ideal candidate is:

• Passionate about progressive politics and fostering democracy
• A strong communicator; you should enjoy working with other people and be willing and excited to speak with everyone
• A Hard worker who will stay motivated to engage as many people as possible
• Open to new challenges and are interested in building their campaign skills
• Culturally competent and able to respectfully engage with teammates and the community

Prior canvassing experience is not required.
