Position Title
Police Officer
Signing Bonus
Eligible candidates who have completed the police academy and meet Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy (OPOTA) certification requirements are eligible for a $5,000 signing bonus. The bonus is paid after successfully completing the probationary period and requires a two-year employment commitment following probation.
Salary Information
Starting pay depends on experience and qualifications:
New OPOTA-Certified Police Officer: $70,200 annually.
With One Year of Experience: $76,876 annually.
With Two Years of Experience: $83,304 annually.
With Three Years of Experience: $90,334 annually.

Job Requirements
Age:
Minimum: 21 years by the exam date.
Maximum: 35 years at the time of original appointment unless prior service in the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund or equivalent transferable law enforcement service exists.
Citizenship: U.S. citizenship required.
Education: High school diploma or GED.
Associate degree in Criminal Justice or OPOTA certification preferred.
Driver's License: Valid Ohio driver's license required.
Vision: Corrected to 20/20.
Language: Proficiency in English required.
Academy Certification
Preferred but not required.
If hired without certification, the City will cover academy costs, and the officer will be paid $3 less per hour during training.

Physical Agility Test.

Voice Stress Analysis.
Interview with Police Chief and Staff.
Interview with City Manager.
Psychological Examination.
Physical Exam and Drug Screening.
Disqualifiers
Candidates are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Ohio Revised Code 737.052 precludes appointment for individuals with felony convictions.
