Summary

This position is located in the Division of Insurance and Research, Headquarters of the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and provides support by analyzing key policy issues addressing the Corporation's relationship and interaction with the international community.

Duties

  • Coordinates the FDIC's relationships with foreign jurisdictions and international organizations, including standard-setting bodies, and provides analytical support, policy recommendations, and project leadership.
  • Serves as an authoritative resource to the analysts, resolution specialists, examiners and other offices and divisions with the Corporation on international banking matters and provides consultation on international banking supervision and deposit insurance issues to examiners, review examiners, case managers, resolution specialists and executives.
  • Provides presentations, speeches, and training events to international groups such as ASBA and IADI. Develops products for these events independently, with the support of junior staff within IAB.
  • Plans and executes projects, under the guidance of the Section Chief, Associate Director, or designee, related to the FDIC's international programs and objectives, including the staff support for developing the proposed agenda, logistics and related international travel requirements required for hosting an international meeting.
  • Performs a wide variety of analytical, evaluative, and writing activities in support of international policy, programs, and objectives to include preparation and review of deposit insurance, supervision, or resolution policy documents.
  • Stays abreast of current activities of internationally active financial institutions of strategic importance and relevance to the FDIC, and monitors international developments bearing on foreign banking organizations and U.S. banks operating overseas.

Qualifications

Qualifying experience may be obtained in the private or public sector. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic, religious/spiritual; community; student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. To qualify, applicants must have completed at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the CG-14 grade level or above in the Federal service.Specialized experience is defined as experience performing analysis and evaluation of policies related to deposit insurance, financial institution supervision, or resolution of insured depository institutions; and developing written reports and communicating findings regarding international financial standard setting bodies.

Additional information

Selectee(s) for this position will be required to report to their duty station office two days per week.

Salary reflects a pay cap for this position of $252,500.

  7. Knowledge of the structure and operation of international financial markets.
