Job location: On site in Houston, TX- Local candidates required, no per diem.

Contract duration: 9 months

Pay rate: Up to $67.00 per hour/ W2

This job involves the design and construction of a launch platform to support an advanced launch vehicle for deep space missions. It includes integrating various subsystems within structural constraints and ensuring compatibility with ground systems at the launch site.

This role involves supporting the design development of structural engineering designs for the project by modifying and updating calculations, responding to requests for information from the steel fabricator, and providing construction support by addressing field change notices.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop structural engineering deliverables, such as steel calculations and specifications.
• Create structural analysis models using software such as GTSTRUDL or STAAD.
• Review and coordinate technical documents with/from other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare technical reports related to specific design issues.
• Assist in constructability reviews.

Education and Experience Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in civil/structural engineering (or a related field) from an accredited institution and 2–5 years of relevant experience, or 6–9 years of relevant work experience.
• U.S. citizenship is required.
• Must successfully pass a pre-employment drug screen and background check.

Required Knowledge and Skills

Minimum:

• Familiarity with structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL, STAAD, or similar.
• Experience with Mathcad or similar software.
• Strong listening, oral and written communication, planning, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency in CADD applications, such as MicroStation, Tekla, and Navisworks.
• Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel.

Preferred:

• Possession of an Engineering in Training (EIT) Certificate.
• Advanced proficiency in the use of Mathcad and GTSTRUDL or similar structural analysis software.
• Strong knowledge of AISC Steel Manual and ASCE 7 provisions.
• Familiarity with design standards, guides, and industry-standard applications.
• Basic knowledge of engineering deliverables such as drawings, specifications, material requisitions, and construction methods for concrete and steel structures.
• Understanding of work processes across disciplines and departments in projects.
