Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the tax team, overseeing staff workload, setting priorities, and ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time.
- Assign projects, review work, and provide constructive feedback for improvement.
- Conduct performance reviews and address any team issues that arise.
Essential Job Functions:
- Supervise and support a dedicated team of Tax and Financial professionals, helping to keep everyone accountable.
- Assist in the training and development of new employees.
- Proactively review team members' work, providing real-time feedback and coaching.
- Offer guidance, support, and training as needed to maintain high performance and morale.
- Conduct weekly check-ins with tax team members to ensure ongoing support and engagement.
- Lead client kick-off meetings with the Sales Team to establish strong rapport with assigned clients.
- Prepare and review financial statements, reports, and analyses for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Run or attend quarterly meetings with clients to discuss their progress and provide feedback, along with estimated tax projections.
- Review clients' year-to-date business and personal income to recalculate upcoming estimated payments, creating a list of items for client consultation.
- Handle tax return preparation, conduct tax issue and strategy research, manage tax notices, sales tax, financial statement preparation, and perform final reviews and sign-offs on tax returns.
- Understand and apply tax reduction strategies effectively.
- Provide accounting support to the team as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements:
- Must be a licensed CPA.
- A minimum of 5 years of tax experience, with proven work experience as a Tax Senior or Tax Associate.
- Knowledge of accounting and payroll.
- Familiarity with tax code for individuals and small businesses, particularly with S-Corp and Partnership returns.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks Online, QuickBooks Desktop, and Ultra Tax.
- Experience with project management software such as Asana, Notion, Monday, or ClickUp is a plus.
- Maintain confidentiality in all matters.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated supervisory and leadership skills, with the ability to lead, mentor, coach, and motivate others.
- In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and tax laws.
- Ability to build strong internal and external relationships.
- Capability to maintain compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively to meet deadlines.
- Excellent planning, multitasking, time management, and customer service skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in financial recordkeeping.
